6/29/2023 0 Comments Into the blue by robert goddard![]() ![]() None of this is unprecedented, said Michael Fromm, a meteorologist at the U.S. It was one that I didn't have to cringe to listen to with my wife and family the way I sometimes do with a lot of sex and violence and profanity. Scientists even used satellites to track smoke injected high into the atmosphere by Canadian wildfires early in the month as it circled the entire globe. Into the Blue has a great mix of mystery and adventure with many characters drawn in great detail. I usually prefer about 8 hours but this definitely kept outr interest for a long vacation drive this summer. It's a perfect book for a looong drive at 18 hours. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? His ability to take on such a wide sweep of character dialogues. What about Paul Shelley’s performance did you like? I guess because both sets of heros aren't ashamed of their flaws- they both drink and smoke too much and are well past their prime but still have some guile when they need it. ![]() What other book might you compare Into the Blue to and why? Though I haven't read the print version, there's just something about having all of the international characters come to life with their accents and foibles that really makes the performance superior. Would you consider the audio edition of Into the Blue to be better than the print version? ![]()

6/29/2023 0 Comments Worlds of Wonder by David Gerrold![]() ![]() ![]() I mentioned that to Gene (Roddenberry) when they were planning The Motion Picture. Gerrold: I’d always wanted to do the extra bit and it never happened on TOS. We’ll revisit The Animated Series in a separate conversation, so let’s continue on the timeline and stop at The Motion Picture, in which you made a cameo appearance. Yesterday, David Gerrold talked about his involvement with the original Star Trek series, recounting his experiences on the episodes “ The Trouble with Tribbles,” “ The Cloud Minders” and “ I, Mudd.” Today, in the second half of our comprehensive conversation, the talk turns to The Motion Picture, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and New Voyages, as well as some longstanding controversies and Gerrold's impressive and steady stream of non-Trek output. ![]() 6/29/2023 0 Comments Montessori the absorbent mind![]() ![]() ![]() He did this by drafting his next poem in his sleep. Indeed in the 1650’s, poet John Milton is said to have set himself a personal mission to quell his reasoning mind so as to improve his poetry. Many praise Freud as being the discoverer of the unconscious but he rebuffed this claim and pointed to philosophers and poets generations before him as the first to tap into the mysterious entity. Sometimes referred to as the unconscious, this human characteristic was not discovered in 1907, but when Dr Freud met Dr Jung in person for the first time that year and they engaged in their infamous thirteen hour conversation, it is fair to say that it became one of the vanguard topics of human civilisation. The direction was inward, and it was towards the subconscious. No waters were yet to be chartered, and all the continents had been claimed, but there was one direction of exploration which was attracting more attention than it had ever done before. The year Maria Montessori opened her first Casa dei Bambini in San Lorenzo mankind’s urge to explore underwent a profound shift of focus. ![]() An essay by Peter Friend, Elementary Guide. ![]() 6/29/2023 0 Comments Ag howard splintered series![]() ![]() Even if we, because we read from Alyssa’s POV, didn’t know it at the time. The perfect amount of creepy and whimsical, with their own distinct personalities that helped create a great image in my mind.Īnd then we have my favorite. Not to mention how well Wonderland and it’s inhabitants were done. The way that woman weaves together plot lines is magical, and it amazed me how directly they all affected what happened in not only our character’s lives, but also Wonderland itself.Īlyssa’s parents, especially her mom, Alison, had a really interesting plot line and backstory that tied into so much throughout Ensnared and made everything come full circle.
